It was back in the late 60’s when Dave began to learn to play the guitar, but it was during the glam rock era of the 70’s when he started playing it in earnest. Influenced by the music of the time (Slade Sweet Mud & the clothes & the make-up!) Dave & his mates formed a band & performed in local schools, hotels & village halls. He played in various bands over the next decade specialising in 60’s & 70’s covers. He really enjoyed the instrumental music ( Shadows etc) which featured strongly in their set list.
Those were good times!
It wasn’t until the early 90’s that he started performing as a solo artist in the local pubs & clubs, and before long he was performing professionally all over the country. In 2000 he was joined by Dani on keyboards and then later by Charlie on bass guitar.
Dani is a multi-talented keyboard player and can occaisionally be heard on violin (Come on Eileen). She is definately the young good looking one in the band and just about manages to keep Dave & Charlie in order! At the moment, Dani is taking a short breakfrom the band having recieved an offer she couldn't refuse.........to work for a year in the sun.
Charlie is an old rock & roller from liverpool. He was part of the Merseybeat sound of the 60's before escaping to rural Shropshire in the late 70's to enjoy the "good life".
Charlie started his second childhood in 2000 when he teamed up with his old friend Dave, bringing his trusty iconic Hofner violin beatle bass....which like him is an antique!
For the last 14 years they have gigged tirelessly up and down the country supporting some of the great names in the music business. They have performed at festivals, in town halls, theatres, parks etc. Even a railway station & a museum!
One interesting gig was the World championship sheep shearing finals (honestly!) ... the most requested song ....Billy Fury's I'll never find another ewe!
They can rock it up or slow it down, just as the mood calls for. They can keep the dancers happy or just do some easy listening back ground music. Whether its a dinner or a dance, a party or celebration, a pub or a club they can handle it.... Just what you'd expect from professional & versatile, fun loving band.
As a three-piece they are known as Stardust & are often joined by Ruth &/or Lauren who certainly add a bit more glamour to the band
For 2015 they wanted to take a well deserved break and just play the up close and personal venues that they started in all those years ago, maybe a few local pubs & clubs, playing the music they enjoy.
2016 sees them back on the road in full swing again
So why not go and see them locally, or better still, book them yourselves. You wont be disappointed!
